FAQs

WHAT IS THE NURTURING UNITY AND RESILIENCE?

The Nurturing Unity and Resilience Conference is the Yale Black Muslim Students Association’s inaugural conference, created to celebrate and explore the fullness of Black Muslim identity. It brings students and community members together to connect, reflect, and build unity through shared experiences and conversation. While many spaces focus solely on religion or solely on Black identity, this gathering seeks to honor the powerful intersection of both. Our existence as Black Muslims makes us different, shaped by histories, challenges, and triumphs that deserve to be acknowledged, uplifted, and celebrated.

This conference will highlight the richness and diversity of the Black Muslim experience in America and around the world, including our careers, our daily lives, our similarities, and our differences. We are not just one image; we carry multiple stories and perspectives that need to be heard. Our intention is to create a space where students and community members can come together to discuss, reflect, and build. We aim to attract undergraduate students navigating the realities of the Black Muslim identity, providing guidance and inspiration as they move toward their personal and professional goals.

WHERE WILL THE EVENTS BE HELD?

All of the events will take place in various spaces on and around Yale's campus. Our central location for much of the conference will be Luce Hall and the Upper Science Hill area. More details regarding specific spaces will be announced as we solidify our schedule!
